Ans.— The Baudhnath Stupa is the famous Buddhist shrine of Kathmandu. Its immense white dome is ringed by a road. Small shops stand on its outer edge, selling felt bags, Tibetan prints and silver jewellery, as many of these shops are owned by Tibetan immigrants. Despite this, there are no crowds. The shrine appears to be a heaven of quietness in the busy street around.

Ans.— At Pashupatinath there is always an atmosphere of febrile confusion priests, devotees, tourists, cows, monkeys, pigeon and dogs roam through the grounds. There are so many worshippers that some people trying to get the priests attention are elbowed aside by others pushing their way to the front. There are monkeys who play and quarrel and sometimes jumps onto a Shivalinga. Old offerings such as flowers and leaves are dropped from a balcony into the Bagmati river that flows below.

Ans.— The author wonderfully describes the pattern of life of the flute seller. The seller is standing in a corner of the square near the hotel.
