Ans.— Our society is dominated by men, so the identity of the woman is related to their marriage. After marriage, a woman gets the name of her husband by losing her own identity.

So, when Padma questions the importance of marriage, she gets irritated and calls her question senseless.

Ans.— Padma is a young girl who wants to lead a life of dignity, self respect and honour. She is not ready to accept that girls are in anyway inferior to boys and the identity of a girl is obtained only through marriage. She repeatedly questions her parents about rights and identity of a woman.
